Driving Concrete Posts Into Hard Ground

We regularly get asked questions about driving concrete posts into hard ground. Will a post break if it's driven into rocky earth? How do I prepare hard earth for a concrete post? What about dry or clay earth? What kind of a post driver and driving cap do I need?

The truth is, concrete posts can be driven into the toughest ground and very rarely do they break. Being pre-stressed, concrete posts have a great deal of flexibility.

In this video, Doug Leadbeatter shows a concrete post being driven into rock hard ground, through an old bitumen road.

Doug also shows the ground preparation and how to remove a concrete post from hard earth, plus the minimal damage to the bottom end of the post from being driven into the ground through hard rock.
